A lot of people I talk to struggle to know the difference between a pitch and a chip shot in golf. Both should be used in different situations on the course and both have different techniques.
Pitch shot - ball more forward, shaft straight up and down, don’t lean it towards target, club face open, more centered with your weight. Use this when you want to create more spin, maybe a downhill shot with not a lot of green to work with.
Chip shot - ball a bit more centered, shaft more vertical, leaning left more with right shoulder higher - used when you want the ball to roll like a putt end over end with no spin, more green to work with or more of an uphill shot.
