As I sit here and write my thoughts, I know that posting on social media is not the solution. It is not going to change the law or change what people of color have systematically experienced HISTORICALLY through to the present. I wish I could go and peacefully protest with you. 3 weeks post opp, I am living this life of stillness as my broken hip heals. Short of donating and using my voice here, I want to say, YES, making our voices publicly heard is important. Protests highlight this yearning for change. But let’s also make that desire STICK. That is, let’s elect the government leaders that will legislatively meet our demands and enforce the criteria and laws for who we have in place as our police. I want to see all of the people responsible for the injustices that have been filmed and also NOT filmed held accountable for their actions. Just because you are caught doesn’t mean you weren’t guilty all along. It means there is now evidence Shining Directly at you, spot lighting horrendous behavior. This violence has been ongoing and now, I am thankful that we have the power to capture it and share it. But let’s stop it. I know I am a white woman who makes a living doing a sport. I live a privileged life and I have not been targeted due to the color of my skin. But I am here to use my voice and donate the resources I have to the organizations in place, but also, to educate myself and to VOTE for the candidates who deserve to be our leaders. What I can say, is that our current administration has failed us and we need Change.」6月2日 3時25分 - sashadigiulian
