Eight years of Ellen & Kate.
2019: on Cape Hatteras, traveling to write and photograph my book. That evening, in that light...magic.
2020: in Kansas, sheltering in place. Still loving each other, always, through the hard times.
2018: A night alone at a hotel in Austin, we were so zonked that we went to bed after dinner and drinks out with @eichars_explore. We were working so hard then, never taking breaks until this one night. That was the start of our most painful year, more painful than even now, but we didn’t know it then.
2017: In Montana, maybe the happiest we’d ever been. Back on the road and letting the experiences come, as they do, when living that freely. She was being ornery in this photo, you can see it in that laughter of hers and my smirk. Photo by @thestorkandthebeanstalk.
2016: In our living room, a selfie snap before heading out to dinner. Holding on.
2015: Finishing the build in our first Airstream, making our dream a reality, just the two of us.

2012: Everything was new. Our dating days were spent living four hours apart, driving to see one another, and each moment was a gift. We wouldn’t let go of each other when we could be physically together, and we spent every night falling asleep to one another on Skype.
Eight years of life with my love. We have fought hard to be here. It hasn’t all been easy - in fact, there’s been a lot of really hard stuff. To know that we’re still here, still loving one another, through the good and the difficult too, means more to me than if it had all been fairytale.
It means we are willing to fight for what matters, we are willing to put in the work of loving one another.
I chose her eight years ago. I still choose her today and everyday.
