For as long as I can remember, New York has been one of my favorite places to wander around outside with my dogs and daydream. When 9/11 happened and lower Manhattan shut down, part of my heart did as well. I did the only thing I really know how to in times of difficulty and darkness—I took some pictures and started filming my dogs—a scrapbook that turned into my film “A Letter to True.” This clip comes from that film, and I wanted to share it with you now at a time when my beloved New York is again under siege. I dedicate Blossom Dearie’s sweet song to those brave souls working the front lines to care for the sick and help to feed and look after those in need. 🖤B.W.
