Photo by @dina_litovsky. For a couple of years I spent my summer nights shooting in the Meatpacking District, the nightlife capital of New York City. Formerly known for its slaughterhouses, Meatpacking now boasts the flashiest nightclubs in the city.
What fascinates me is the public space between the velvet ropes and the taxi stands - an unexamined world of messy courtship rituals and spontaneous street interactions. Each weekend night, young women in stilettos navigate the district's cobblestone streets, joining long lines, adjusting makeup and rebuffing cat calls. Dramatically lit by streetlights, the area becomes a theatrical playground, offering a fascinating glimpse of contemporary romance. For more images, follow me @dina_litovsky
