Photo by Kris Davidson @hellokrisdavidson | Fog rolls over San Francisco, as seen from the SOMA neighborhood. Many things have been said about San Francisco’s weather, perhaps most famously a quote allegedly (and very likely erroneously) attributed to Mark Twain: “The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco.” The city is known for her many shifting microclimates created by the hilly landscape, which is bounded by the cool Pacific Ocean waters and air on one side and warm Central Valley climes on the other. All of these factors give rise to San Francisco’s most mysterious resident, the fog, which residents have lovingly named Karl the Fog (and yes, he has an insta). If you’re visiting this beautiful city by the bay, pack your sweaters. But if you feel cold, remember this other saying: If you don’t like the weather, just walk a few blocks. #sanfrancisco #karlthefog #microclimate
