A (younger) friend of mine said this week that if she didn't have children by the time she was 30, she'd have one by herself. By 30! I was like, dude you know I'm 32? There's still time, relax! 👵🏻 Anyway, I've been thinking about it today, and it made me think how we view age, especially as women. At school, I had a pact with my best guy friend that if we weren't married by the time we were 30 we'd get married, as if by that age we were down to our last resort! The irony that he's getting married this weekend... Even my 'last resort' has found someone! 😂 There's this societal notion that single women above 30 are desperate as we frantically try to be wifey-ed by any man who'll have us, driven mad by the sounds of the ticking clock coming from our ovaries. We're not left on the shelf, we're not even on the shelf because we're living our lives, travelling, and buying houses on our own and building our own shelves so we can make healthy life choices. 💁🏼‍♀️ I'm 32, but I'm still desirable and attractive... Our looks don't fade, they just change. How many beautiful older women do you know? I still feel too young to have children, and am not sure I ever want to get married (even though I look forward to meeting my soulmate!). When I quit my job at 25 to try and pursue my dream job, everyone said I was already too old. But I'm getting more presenting work than ever, Char and I dj'ed so many festivals this summer, and yesterday just shot a big modelling campaign. I don't say that to brag, but just to say for anyone who needs to hear it... Life does go on (and dare I say even get better?) after 30. And whilst we hopefully have so much time ahead, life is short so leave your unhappy relationships, quit the job you hate and start living the life you want. 💘 Anyway, here ends my TED talk. 😂💁🏼‍♀️」9月26日 21時43分
