Cyrus Grace Dunham on the pain and uncertainty of transitioning: “I didn’t tell my parents about Cyrus. When we spoke on the phone, they called me Grace. I feared what I would be taking away from them—a daughter.” Tap the link in our bio to read an excerpt from Dunham’s upcoming memoir, “A Year Without a Name.” Photograph by @breasouders for The New Yorker.

I've a strong feeling that the struggle faced by transitioning people is something that will define all of us. I have a deep admiration for anyone bold enough to take so much of themselves so fully into their own hands. I'm hopeful that their striving so hard in the face of so many challenges will bring courage to all of us-and all of us, whether we realize it or not-are desperately in need of courage.

@susannahmolly I have no problem with left leaning. I have an issue with lying propaganda and this page has tons of it.

@beerguytoronto The New Yorker is a left-leaning literary magazine. They don’t pretend otherwise.
