In Georgia’s gubernatorial race last year, the nation got a preview of the future of electoral politics. Republican Brian Kemp was declared the winner, over Democrat Stacey Abrams, by a margin of less than two per cent. A hundred thousand voters’ registrations were cancelled because they hadn’t voted in seven years. Another 53,000, 70 per cent of whom were black, had their registrations put on hold for something as minor as a missing hyphen. Since that election, and for years before it, Abrams has been leading the battle against voter suppression. For a country that is supposed to be THE symbol of freedom and democracy the electoral system in the US is a farce and it needs to change. A fair system needs to be in place that represents all and allows all citizens to vote. Thank you Stacey for fighting for a fair and just system!

If people don’t vote they need to be taken out. 7 years without voting sheesh. Handwriting counts since it’s being read by a human being, but they’re supposed to send notices right away to let people know they need to fix their mistakes.

She is incredible. I am so angry about this (among all the disastrous events happening now). She holds her head up high. Ms. Abrams is a hero.

One consolation in these hellish days is that I KNOW Stacy Abrams will triumph and we will get out of this hell because of it.

And millions and millions of people in Georgia managed to follow the rules and fill out the paperwork properly. How unfair.
