That night in Sumatra was a strange
one, especially these two ships. You’re probably going to imagine, as I did, that it’s a cruise liners moored in a harbour. These large to-scale boats are made of concrete and are inland, nowhere near water! The largest I believe was a nightclub and hotel, the smaller to its left I do not know. If any of my friends in Indonesia recall seeing these gigantic megaliths and whether they are still there, and where, could you kindly comment below? I photographed this bizarreness a few years ago, and I can’t recall their reason of being, or if I was dreaming, but here they were, glowing at night within a parking lot filled with cars. What I do remember was being amazed in the crazy thought of why and how this even existed. Thank you so much!

John, i loves your description of your experience. I think people visiting Gulf countries might have many such experiences as there are many things which are of similar nature! ?
And the concrete cruise definitely looks weird!!! ?

Even though these aren’t ships I was surprised to find out, a few years ago, that quite a lot of ships were made of concrete at the beginning of the 20th century. There’s some being used as a floating breakwater near us...

Yes, my first take was two ships docked in a harbor.I would imagine that the products produced in this country brought in large sums of money. Therefore they provided entertainment for the rich?

Was it in Batam? I remember seing a gigantic ship in Batam from my hotel room window, only to be bewildered when I realized the harbour was in the opposite side of my hotel!
