One of the central figures of the beguiling Bloomsbury group, #modernist #painter Vanessa Bell was born #OnThisDay in 1879, sister to renowned writer Virginia Woolf.

This bucolic landscape painting from circa 1933 is titled ‘Late Afternoon, #Charleston’, where she moved to in 1916 with fellow artist Duncan Grant. The thriving #Sussex house remains as witness to the long and creative partnership between these two significant British artists.

It will make its auction debut on 19 June as part of our Modern & Post-War British Art sale in London.
