Painted in May of 1965, Pablo Picasso’s ‘Nu au chapeau, buste’ depicts a female figure inspired by Picasso’s second wife and the last love of his life, Jacqueline Roque. Picasso’s art was closely related to his personal life, and the women depicted in his paintings were always influenced by his companions at the time. Although it is not a direct likeness of Jacqueline, the subject of the present work shares some of the same features as Picasso’s muse and captures her essence, though she never posed for the artist as his model.
