The Kogui meaning ‘Jaguar’ are an indigenous ethnic group living in Colombia’s Sierra Nevada, deeply rooted in their belief that people and nature are one. They understand the Earth to be a living being and see humanity as its ‘’children’’. They are unique among Latin America’s indigenous cultures because the Spaniards never conquered them. They represent the most complete surviving civilization of pre-Colombian America. I’m currently in Colombia working on various projects including the continuation of my personal project- 'Solar Portraits’ which addresses the important issue of lack of access of electricity around the world. It is a series of portraits depicting the lives of inhabitants of remote areas worldwide who, for the first time have access to electricity through the power of solar energy.
