This Wisconsin paper mill is making a comeback. It shut down in 2017 after 128 years of operation. Now it's running again, thanks to 2 factors: China, and the millions of cardboard packages that @Amazon and other online retailers ship around the world. Why China? The country used to recycle much of the cardboard consumed in the U.S., but as of January 2018, it no longer accepts most used cardboard imports. That’s creating a glut of #cardboard scrap, allowing mills to obtain cheap raw material. After being purchased by the Midwest Paper Group, this mill reopened not only as a paper producer, but also a large recycling facility. The mill, which has a powerful presence in Combined Locks, hired back half of the 600 workers laid off during the shutdown and switched from producing glossy white paper to brown. @whittensabbatini shot these photos.
