The Los Angeles community that #NipseyHussle sought to improve is now mourning his death, after he was fatally shot outside his Marathon Clothing store on March 31. The 33-year-old Eritrean-American rapper, whose real name was Ermias Asghedom, was known beyond his music for his advocacy work in the Crenshaw area. On Sunday, the city's police commissioner tweeted that he was due to meet with Hussle to "talk about ways he could help stop gang violence and help us help kids." News of his death ricocheted across the Internet, prompting an outpouring of anger and grief. Among @meekmill's messages on Instagram, he wrote: "things just can’t go back to normal after this." On Twitter, @ジョン・レジェンド added: "He was so gifted, so proud of his home, so invested in his community." @ava tweeted: "I’ll remember him this way. Bright, genuine, forward thinking.
