In El Paso, #Texas, a makeshift detention center for #migrants was installed under the Paso Del Norte Bridge, which spans over the Rio Grande, to temporarily house migrants, including families with children. More than 13,400 migrants were in custody in El Paso on March 27, the highest number since 2008, according to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Fernando García, executive director of the nonprofit Border Network for Human Rights, believes the camp has been used for several weeks. “That is not the way to keep refugees, immigrants—much less families,” García told TIME, adding he was troubled to see the area was lined with barbed wire.
