Since the 1950s, hundreds of dogs have jumped off this bridge in Dumbarton, Scotland. Many have ended up dead on the jagged rocks in the deep valley bed below. Some say there are rational explanations involving the terrain and the scents of mammals in the gorge that may drive the dogs into a frenzy. But in a land of superstition and mystery, other explanations take on a more paranormal tone. “After 11 years of research, I’m convinced it’s a ghost,” said Paul Owens, a teacher of religion and philosophy who grew up in a town close to the bridge. He recently published a book about the mystery. Visit the link in our profile to read more. @sophiegerrard shot this photo.
