Honored to be part of @protectourwinters new platform to help give climbers a larger voice on climate change. Along with fellow climbers @エミリー・ハリントン @トミー・コールドウェル @grahamzimmerman @コンラッド・アンカー @alpinist007 @mattsegal and @lasportivana and the @americanalpine we hope to continue to unite the climbing community even further on this issue. I’ve worked with @protectourwinters for a few years now and am excited to see where this can go!

@nthdlcr none of us is perfect, least of all us athletes who do travel for our jobs. But that does not prevent us from using our platforms/voices to become a part of the solution, and trying to be better ourselves. Yes, we all pollute. But the cost of doing nothing at all is even higher. We can support organizations like @protectourwinters / #powclimb, VOTE, AND travel less, offset our flights with other organizations such as @mossy.earth, etc etc. as the old adage goes “do not let perfect get in the way of good.”

@nthdlcr how do you propose making change then? Because if @bethrodden and @emilyaharrington don’t take a flight, guess what, the plane is still going to fly with or without them. But if they use their platform to influence systemic solutions like creating new clean renewable transportation solutions that would be more impactful. A perfect footprint doesn’t exist, thus more people should be speaking up like these two!

I certainly fly a lot, but understanding the threat and possible solutions (which happened because of community leaders like Beth speaking out) has caused me to go vegetarian, put solar on my house, get educated and advocate for policy change, minimize consumption, buy carbon offset. And believe it or not, fly less. Hating is not the solution. But I do appreciate a certain amount of accountability

@emilyaharrington what is the difference between a big corporation greenwashing and athletes tagging their IG with POW? Because it is a job does not mean you do not need to change your business model. #preachbutdontpractice

@emilyaharrington on my opinion thinking like that find you an excuse for everything. Like : « ok what I’m doing is bad for climate but no worry because I’m « involved » against climate change »
