It’s a strange experience for us all to live in a time where people mask their lives so incredibly on social media, only portraying the best bits and pretending that they are bigger, better and richer than they are with nothing bad or unfavourable ever happening to them. This leads to false ideals, the fear of reality and growing stress and pressure to fit in with what’s ‘normal’ only normal is rarely truly shared or shown. Life isn’t all roses and and rainbows 24/7, we have more downs in life than ups, but it’s the ups that make it worth it. I’m not saying we should share constant negativity in order to be real, quite the opposite in fact as promoting positivity is something I feel very strongly about. But instead we shouldn’t be afraid to show humanity; to be happy not looking our best at all times, to accept that we don’t have to be perfect, to realise that we may not be where we want to be in life but we can work towards it, and to understand that there is no shame in being open, honest and individual in our opinions, goals and lives. I am fortunate to have a healthy happy family after escaping many years of domestic abuse, battling digestive issues, facing ongoing illness from ruptured breast implants, nursing my mother through cancer and working and studying tirelessly to raise my young family as a single parent since I was a teenager. Whilst some may say it’s an overshare of information, many won’t speak of their true reality but instead boast about what they feel will impress others - I share my experiences wholeheartedly to show people they are not alone, there is hope and change is necessary to achieve peace, happiness and freedom. Let us all be free to be truly ourselves, to have the strength to overcome the hard times and experience and wisdom to truly appreciate the good times when we have them and for as long as they may last. Life isn’t the perfectly constructed images that people choose to share on social media my darlings - it’s everything that happens in between, behind closed doors and away from prying eyes ------------------------
