Ofelia Rivas of the Tohono O'odham Nation poses in front of crosses that her father made in #Arizona, marking the graves of two migrants who died from dehydration years before she was born. Rivas described "a state of crisis among her people, suffering from repeated abuses and harassment at the hands of Border Protection and the destruction of their way of life, which started with their homeland being divided between the United States and Mexico," writes Genevieve Allison (@gengennygenevieve), who traveled the 2,000 miles of the U.S.-Mexico border with photographer Elliot Ross (@elliotstudio). Many of those they met living along the border in 2017, she adds, "told us that building a full border wall, and therefore bringing with it an even greater government presence, may only make their lives harder."
