When viewers of the #Grammys called out the lack of awards for #women last year, Neil Portnow, the outgoing Recording Academy president and CEO, replied: “I think [change] has to begin with women who have the creativity in their hearts and souls, who want to be #musicians, who want to be engineers, who want to be producers, who want to be part of the industry on the executive level to step up.” (“I guess this year we really stepped up,” Best New Artist @デュア・リパ quipped during the 61st Annual Grammy Awards telecast on Feb. 10, just before an abrupt cut to commercial.)
