Happy to welcome Czech Republic PM Andrej Babiš to Singapore!

We celebrated 25 years of diplomatic relations with the Czech Republic last year, but our links are much older. E.g. in Peranakan culture, the tiny glass beads used to make the intricate kasot manek, or beaded slippers, were imported from Bohemia, present-day Czech Republic. The well-loved Bata shoes also took their first steps in the Czech Republic. Generations of Singaporean children wore white @batasingapore canvas shoes to school, including me!

PM Babiš brought a large business delegation with him, and I hope we will continue to find new opportunities for business with each other, as well as build up our people-to-people ties. – LHL ????
