Black Magic: In this mysterious and magical composition from the 1940s, René #Magritte depicts the transformation of flesh into sky. Mystery emanates from the model, whose blank eyes resemble those of a marble sculpture, and the dove that rests on her shoulder. As her upper body gradually acquires a cooler tone, the wood-panelled wall is broken to reveal a landscape of still sea and cloudless sky behind it.
On view in our #HongKong galleries from 15 – 17 January, ahead of our #Surrealist Art #exhibition in #London from 20 – 26 February.
