Last year was a year of extreme highs and lows with the unexpected happenings of life entailing both loss and union. It taught me a little about the paradox of time: in joy, it flees so quickly, we cannot hold or hang onto it enough; in sorrow, it tarries ever so slowly, we cannot escape it fast enough. And then there is the timelessness within our memories, the beautiful embers that warm our hearts and the same embers where we still burn from the sting of hurts. Yet in its mystery, time is invaluable and precious, it’s the reminder to make the most of each day, of this life, and that the moments we share with those with love are the full measure that reveals time’s gift. In the year ahead, I hope that across the whole spectrum, the gift of it all is felt more than anything else.
