??This resonates so much. In my work, relationships, hobbies, pretty much everything. If I only did things when I felt inspired, I wouldn’t put forth my best, I would let too many things go to the wayside, my expressions of love with family would be inconsistent and I wouldn’t do things that are healthy and fruitful within my own lifestyle. Habits push the effort when I least feel like it and it yields some of the best surprises later and makes all the difference of experiences lived and shared. It doesn’t mean I meet my goals each day but it keeps me moving and helps me from getting stuck in my own inertia or the overwhelming facets of life when they storm in. Interestingly enough, it was a ten minute daily practice of doodling that kickstarted it all for me years ago when I felt stuck in a rut. That particular practice led to other habits, and it opened my world to places, ideas and opportunities that I never fathomed. Doodling has been replaced with journaling, but I’ll never forget how scribbling elementary visuals changed the course of my life. It’s the little streams that lead to the vast oceans and it’s the little things that sometimes hold the most meaning and significance too.
