#Bestof2018 A new auction record for any living female artist was established in #London in October when Jenny Saville’s ‘Propped’ sold for £9.5 million ($12.4 million). Painted in 1992, this superlative self-portrait propelled a young Jenny Saville to renown following its inclusion in the landmark 1997 exhibition, ‘Sensation: Young British Artists from the Saatchi Gallery’ at the Royal Academy of Art. ‘Propped’ was one of 50 artworks sold in our Frieze Week sales from the collection of the late David Teiger, the visionary collector, patron and museum trustee. #SothebysContemporary
