In Game Changers we cover at length what we all know are habit loops. Habit loops are positive or negative and are measured by the outcome of the actions that occur from your decision(s) made. -
This week we are looking at Law #3 from the book - Trying is Lying (to yourself). You may not realize it, but you might be setting yourself up for failure. Using what I call "Weasel Words" will only generate negative habit loops. For example, one of the main Weasel Words you may use from time to time is "can't" or a negative contraction. Even if it is as simple as, "Oh, sorry Jim, I can't make it to your party." The way our brain works subconsciously is that it knows and listens to the meaning of the word, but fails to add context. So think about that for a second. If your subconscious registers the word can't with the negative and removal of possibility that then creates subtle confusion in conscious and subconscious parts of our cognitive process. This equals a stressor. -
