“I have always considered myself a photojournalist, a journalist who communicates ideas, observations, and opinions through photographs. As such, I often wander between worlds, criss-crossing through countries. I was working on a story entitled ‘Our Neighbor Portugal’ for Stern magazine in 1964 when I took this image. While driving in the remote region of Tras-os-Montes, I saw two boys with a donkey and bicycle walking through the rainy landscape. It was a fleeting moment of passage, which is sometimes all it takes.” - @thomashoepker
