Video by @taylorglenn // An aerial view of Naranjal, a Wiwa village on the eastern slopes of the lush Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta mountains of Colombia. The Wiwa are descendants of the great Tairona culture and live harmoniously with nature in much the same way as their ancestors did centuries ago. It is a beautiful but very challenging way of life. They consider themselves the protectors of nature and as you might imagine this conflicts quite a bit with the increasing modernization of the world around them. I created this footage for @tomatribaloutreach on an expedition to install a solar array at this village health center. The TOMA Foundation has been working with the Wiwa tribe and others to improve healthcare for these communities. The solar technology enables visiting doctors and caregivers to administer better treatment vastly improving quality of life for the people here.
