Photo by @FransLanting Right now it’s early spring in Antarctica and multitudes of young emperor penguin chicks are nurtured on sea ice around the margins of the frozen continent. Their parents alternate between shuttling in food from open water and guarding their adorable offspring. During the first few weeks the chicks are sheltered on their parent’s feet to avoid contact with the cold ice. It is an epic example of parental commitment under extreme conditions.
