Just had the most wonderful lunch in Newcastle at @_thebroadchare. I chose the place (after scouring the internet) on account of the Monday Special, Mince and Dumplings, which you see here and which was extraordinarily good. As were (you can see pictures by swiping) the startery plates of 2) cauliflower fritters and curry mayonnaise and 3) deep-fried monkfish cheeks with tartare sauce, and pud, 4) steamed syrup sponge with custard. Head Chef Dan Warren has the lightest touch, and everyone there was lovely. I just have to come back again soon, and I think it has to be a Wednesday next time when the Special is Ham Shank and Pease Pudding. I’ve left you with the list of daily specials too (pic 5).Maybe I’ll have to spend a week here. I want everything (and I rather liked the look of the Christmas menu online too). Anyway, I’m suitably buoyed up for my night on stage at The Sage tonight. I’m so looking forward to it.
