In Good Will Hunting, the present watercolor – painted by the film’s director, Gus Van Sant – was displayed in the office of Sean Maguire, played by Robin Williams. The work served as the focal point of Will Hunting’s first therapy session with Sean – arguably one of the most significant scenes in the film. This piece led the selection of movie memorabilia on offer in today’s auction of The Collection of Marsha and Robin Williams in NYC, which saw global bidding and competition for everything from street art and outsider art to watches, toys, books and more.
