Met @ASEAN Ministers for Cybersecurity and ICT yesterday. They were here for the ASEAN Ministerial Conference on Cybersecurity – part of the annual Singapore International Cyber Week
Cyber attacks are a vexing problem affecting us all, in the digital age. We are seeing more sophisticated and frequent cyber attacks against individuals, businesses, and governments. The recent major intrusion into our healthcare data systems underlined the seriousness and urgency of the threat.
And cyber attacks aren’t the only issue. Just yesterday, I saw reports of a website using fake comments attributed to DPM Tharman to solicit bitcoin investments. My name may have been used in a similar scam earlier. Needless to say, any such supposed endorsement by me is fake.
We have to work with other countries, especially our #ASEAN partners, to counter cyber attacks. By cooperating and exchanging info, we will be more effective against the bad guys. – LHL
