Michael Martin (@tooschoolforjuul), a skater, musician, and model from Staten Island, has come to Afropunk almost every year since it started over 10 years ago because his mom is one of the vendors—her creations dangle from his neck, adding a sweet family touch to his ensemble. And though the Batman’s the Joker-printed Converse he bought for $15 are far from box fresh (he says the thinks that they’re sort of terrible, but skaters need to have lots of throwaway shoes on hand), he picked up his sleek denim jacket at the festival just moments before. “It was a really great find,” he says.
