Photo by @marcovernaschi · Bamboo Ram was a male Bengal tiger who lived in the Ranthambore National Park, India. He was a legendary hunter and father of Machali’s offspring, India’s most iconic tigress. As in most tiger-populated areas in India, the main threats to the conservation of this species are poaching and death resulting from human-tiger conflict. Several organizations are working closely with local communities living around tiger habitats to provide immediate financial support as an interim relief to victims, in case of loss of cattle, and ex gratia payment in case of human injury or death. There are only an estimated 3.200 tigers left in the wild.
