After topping out during the seeding round of @psicocomp ? I stood at the edge of the 50ft wall, preparing myself for the leap back into the pool. 2018 marks my fourth year as a competitor. I knew what to expect: fear, nervousness, hesitation. I’ve felt it all before. I stepped off anyways, feeling the familiar drop in my stomach as the water rushed to meet me. I raised my arms above my head, penciled my body, and slammed into the aerated waves. Everything went as expected... except for the sharp, shooting pain in my right knee as I swam to the surface.

I initially tried to walk it off, thinking it was just a bad bruise. I applied ice and compression. I could bend and weight it, but couldn’t straighten. When Finals came around I decided to climb in my bracket. I knew falling in the water wouldn’t be good but I still wanted to give it my best effort.

It was a close race with @sami.singleton topping just moments before me. Though I climbed cautiously, I still tried hard. Sami tried harder and won with speed and style. It was exhilarating to see her turn it on and punch it to the top. Cheers to a good fight Sami ???? and congrats to the 2018 @psicocomp winners, @hannahtolson97 and @jwebxl ????

As for my knee, well... the diagnosis is unclear. I’ve gotten great insight from @carriecooper_dpt and of course @アレックス・パッチシオ ? and will be seeing PT wizard @zgdicristino on Thursday. Keeping my fingers crossed for something other than worst-case scenario ??
