Born #OnThisDay in 1928, bohemian painter Bernard Buffet was the talk of 1950s #Paris, with a rare mastery of technique, but suffered a tragic downfall. This bold self-portrait from 1956 comes from the collection of Pierre Bergé, with whom the artist had an intense shared history, and will be offered at auction at @SothebysFR later this year.
