This isn’t a story about a male restaurant chef, who had it pretty easy & had partners & investors .. this is about a young girl, who went to culinary school 13 years ago, when mom said she couldn’t do it, she paid for it all on her own.. a girl who got up at 5 am every morning to get to class by 6, who cooked on the line to learn skills in real life, who just recently paid off her culinary school loans by working hard to work as a food writer in NYC, who sacrificed everything she had to get to where she is now. I use to make these cakes ? to make myself happy, on the coldest Brooklyn nights.. on my poorest days. I used the flowers they were throwing away to make them. When everyone told me I would never make it...when people are still mean to me now. deep inside, I knew who I was & I knew I was good at many things ...I knew it would take time & an army and above all things it took great resilience and endurance #gaman my life’s anthem. Do you know I used to call these my “Wabi Sabi cakes” true story — because I always say the wilted flowers everyone was going to discard as the most beautiful—- I love making these cakes so much- I can’t keep my eyes off of them xx see you back on set, where this girl belongs, next week. And girls, you can do anything — I am living the walk for you. Get back out there xx the comeback is always stronger than the setback ? #Respek
