“Do what you love so well, that people cannot take their eyes off of you” - Maya Angelou. I’ll tell you a story of how my actions & putting my head down to work instead of feeling sorry for myself— propelled myself & my career into progress. A few years ago, my last book Clean Green Eats was coming hot off the press, my beloved Today Show graciously booked me for a cooking segment w the whole Today team. While I prepped for my segment at home— what you didn’t see was the person I was dating/lived with — he tore me apart, talked down to me & caused major fights just days before my last book launch. I remember my sister telling me to tell him to just leave —- this is a reflection of the person causing the issues, not you. Pray for them. I’ll never forget that was the last time I brought him to set, as he took all of his anger out on me — this was never about me — it was about him. And God’s hand will force things a part that are not meant to be. I look back and remember watching a broken girl who was enduring so much pain inside I never told you how broken that time was— it is very Japanese to keep your head up & Gaman (endure w great resilience & grace). Just a few days after that he left abruptly hours before my book launch party—-Instead of feeling sorry for myself — my real friends came out to hold me up— mom and dad told me to get back to work. My Dad tried not to show me he was hurt for me— I can remember feeling the vibration of his pain— but life starts over — & it gets better. Life is about enduring, learning, growing & sharing our stories. I’m even more thrilled that Kintsugi Wellness, is my truth - it is courage & it is vulnerable. It is a book that helped me to step away from being afraid & I want to help others do the same —-You’ll learn more on today’s #podcast!
