Photo @stephen_matera // Washington State has five very prominent volcanoes that are heavily glaciated and significantly higher than their nearby peaks. These five include Mt. Rainier, Mt. Adams, Mt. St. Helens, Glacier Peak, and Mt. Baker. They're all beautiful, inspiring, and stand head and shoulders above the non-volcanic peaks of the Cascades that surround them. At 12,281' Mt. Adams, pictured here, is is the second highest mountain in Washington State, and has an astounding 9,000+ feet relief above the surrounding mountains!
