Photo by @salvarezphoto (Stephen Alvarez) This has got to be one of my favorite spots in the Bears Ears National Monument. It is a long panel of Basketmaker petroglyphs. The engravings go on and on wrapping around the cliff face and out of sight. Each time I go here I find more. Basketmaker is an era of Ancestral Puebloan culture that dominated (in many ways still dominates) Southern Utah. These figures are larger than life and command the bottomland along the San Rafael River. Even though the size of the Bears Ears has been reduced by 85% theses works are still in the monument. Thousands of others have been excluded. #bearsears
