‘An Avenue of Birch Trees in the Wannsee Garden, A View of a Cabbage Field’ depicts the surroundings of Max #Liebermann’s beloved #garden in #Berlin. Like Claude #Monet, who never tired of painting his garden at Giverny, Liebermann painted his outdoor spaces from a variety of angles and at different times of the day. Liebermann spared no expense in designing the grounds of his villa, keeping the birch trees in their original place in order to create a wonderfully picturesque vista, as captured in this work where the path lined with trees leads to the #lake beyond.
