In anticipation of The Collector auctions in London, we invited art consultant Marella Rossi Mosseri to pair old with new, and highlight aesthetic threads through the centuries.

Here, in collaboration with Galleria Continua, she’s matched a French bureau and other antique pieces with an artwork by contemporary Cuban artist Osvaldo González.

‘The light in it is wonderful,’ Rossi Mosseri says of the painting. ‘It makes me think of the light in Flemish paintings.’
