I have the Airstream to myself. I never know what to do with that. The dogs settle, Whiskey on the sofa so she can check to see if the girls are back yet, and Sofie under the table because she’s old and doesn’t give a shit anymore, and I clean up the day’s messes, but that only takes a few minutes and so I walk around and look at things that we’ve built, and check the to-do list above the kitchen sink, and open another Topo and lean my elbows onto the counter to stare at the mountains turning orange and then gold and then pink and finally purple before everything becomes blue and black and I wonder if they’re really there, if I really am living at the base of them.
