I am my mother’s daughter.
I am the granddaughter of 4 individuals who survived through WWII in Japan + Poland, two nations who suffered and endured many horrors of war. Both sides of my grandparents had to flee from war and escape death. They never complained, they lived life in color — with love + with grace, through gratitude until their last waking breaths.
I am the daughter of a brilliant + brave man who was drafted into the US Navy at age 23. He didn’t play small, he was humbled + quiet + worked with integrity.
I am the niece to one of the only Japanese artists who has a permanent collection at the #MoMa & all over the world.
I am the sister to an entrepreneur who is changing the game by herself in the low income communities of London.
I am my mother’s daughter.
I traveled to Japan my entire life to write this collection of personal wellness + self discovery.
I had no idea this was my calling until I put together the pieces + they all began to make sense. In my interview w @lewishowes this week, a lot came up for me. Why was I playing so small, in such a crowded space of basic wellness? My deep + devout calling scared me, & it’s still growing, greater beyond measure.
