still convinced there’s a place for a young Japanese American girl, who shoots + develops + produces all of her own work on the bestseller list. The girl that had to fight to get on every single list, page, roster, masthead, network and council. The girl who started from the bottom, with only her two hands, a pair of vans and a very big heart. Sometimes I wonder, is the James Beard Foundation + other prestigious outlets, are they paying attention to us, the ones who don’t want the fame or fortune? The ones who solely want to help others behind the scenes? Tomorrow I launch the book out with The School of Greatness. I get real with my friend @lewishowes on his podcast. Let me testify the truth —my parents who married outside of their race and religion many years ago.. who met in Tokyo at a Buddhist temple are those I admire most. My father who served in the US Navy... My mother is a Japanese language teacher. My grandfather, who was an artist, an art teacher and rebel in Japan, who painted across the globe in the sixties. And my sister who opened her own bike shoppe in London on her own to help others. Can we recognize there is a whole lineup of real life heroes doing good things at non profits, classrooms, breadlines and social work + community centers daily. Those are my greatest heroes. Fame and fortune is nice, but it’s not what we must seek in this school of greatness. To be of good use to others, my God that is the secret. Profoundly in preparation xx ck + listen to @lewishowes podcast tomorrow! ⚡️⚡️⚡️ #entrepreneurship #entrepreneurquotes #entrepreneurs #immigrants #greatness #badass #heroes #NeverBasic image by the lovely @kathrynmichael
