For our upcoming The Collector auctions in New York, interior designer Rafael de Cárdenas has pulled together these disparate pieces to create a rich table setting (@architectureatlarge).

‘The gilt-tooled leather and metal low table are in the French Directoire style,’ explains Bliss Summers, our Decorative Arts specialist, of the grouping.

‘The Meissen kakiemon dish was created around 1740 and emulates Japanese wares recently introduced to Europe. The silver aquamanile (one of a pair) is Spanish Colonial, and reflects the continuing relevance of the Renaissance style.’
