Money, money, money: ‘The Soul of Money’ by Spanish artist José-María Cano forms a series of works in which the artist aims to bring a fresh perspective to society’s tendency to canonise money and power. Made entirely from wax, the large-format canvases are extremely detailed and multi-textured presentations of significant currencies. The watermarks are deeply resonant to Cano, for him they echo the human soul, being hardly visible at first glance. ‘Game Changers: José-María Cano’, a Sotheby’s S|2 selling exhibition marking the artist’s debut show in Hong Kong, also features another of his best-known series, WS100.
