Post #3 - for Spanish see newest post. In 2010 this was my first year of actually training for CrossFit and my motivation was to show myself that I could make it to that podium if I worked hard enough. I had finally found something that I was truly passionate about. It was challenging and constantly changing. Always something to improve and get better at. My training for the 2010 Games was a lot more structured than the year before but still just making things up on the go. I met my coach, Jami Tikkanen at regionals that year and we have been working together ever since. I realized that to get better at crossfit I needed to refine my movement and at the same time increase my strength. My background in gymnastics gave me an advantage at these movements, but doing them under fatigue is a different story. 2010 was an incredible year for me and cherish the memories I made. First year at the Home Depot Center (StubHub) and being part of the birth of the modern crossfit Games is something not many athletes got to be part of. The competition that year was even fiercer than the year before. One workout stands out to me, and is still a mental MOUNTAIN to this day. AMANDA. 9-7-5 squat snatch and MUs. I didn’t finish Amanda, but at least I improved my total number MU from “1” from 2009. I have worked HARD ever since to climb my mountain and make a weakness, a strength. Something that doesn’t come easy and not without a lot of frustration and tears. As with any other major goal, setting small benchmarks to make sure you’re on track, is essential. I’ve applied this to many things in my career and it’s the only thing that keeps me sane. Finishing 2nd in my 2nd crossfit Games and being so close to the top really fueled me to work harder and smarter to return in 2011 as the best version of ME.
