A National Treasure artist, Raja Ravi Varma’s works of art seldom appear at international auction. This March, we are delighted to offer ‘Untitled (Tillottama)’, a luminescent portrait of a celestial nymph from Hindu mythology. Painted circa 1896, the painting is characteristic of Varma’s practice of combining Western Academic Realism with Indian subject matter. On exhibition in #NYC from 14 March, the hammer comes down for this #SothebysAsianArt auction on 19 March, part of #AsiaWeekNY.
